Media Delivery Service Templates

IO River provides service templates for media delivery, for VOD and for live streaming.

These templates can be used when creating a new service, and affect the caching behavior for various file types to maximize playback quality. Naturally, these behaviors can later be modified to meet your specific needs and traffic structure.

VOD Streaming Template​

This template creates a service optimized for Video-on-Demand, with enhanced caching policies for manifests and similar files.

  • Default edge cache 30 minutes TTL
  • Manifest files (m3u8 and mpd)
    • Edge cache set to 2 seconds TTL
    • Disable client (browser) cache

Live Streaming Template​

This template creates a service optimized for live streaming, with enhanced caching policies for manifests and similar files.

  • Default edge cache 30 minutes TTL
  • Manifest files (m3u8 and mpd)
    • Edge cache set to 2 seconds TTL
    • Disable client (browser) cache

Akamai-specific behavior​

Services using these media delivery templates can only be deployed on Akamai property groups that include the Media Delivery (MD) product.
